Welcome! My name is Samantha Jones. I’m a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with 10 years of experience in the field. I graduated from Texas State University with my bachelor’s degree in 2013 and then completed my MSW from my alma mater in 2015. I’ve worked in various settings which allowed me to support those navigating anxiety, depression, neurodiversity, grief and loss, adjustment and limitations due to brain injury and spinal cord injury, life transitions, and aging. My experience doesn’t solely come from traditional education but from my life lessons as well as having the privilege of sitting on the receiving end of therapy for myself. I understand that therapy requires safety, vulnerability, and authenticity. I grew up in a military home with both parents who served over 20+ years in the Air Force. I can provide experiential empathy and support to military families and members looking for therapeutic support. My passion is working with women, young adults, and professionals experiencing a range of symptoms and life stressors related to anxiety, depression, trauma, and life transitions such as college, marriage, change in relationship status, self-esteem, parenting, a new job, moving, etc. My approach to counseling is a combination of Holistic therapy and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy. We’ll use CBT to address how old thinking patterns and habits contribute to feeling stuck and at times powerless in your unique life journey. I also use a Holistic approach to therapy which focuses on the whole self (Physical, Emotional, Mental, Spiritual, and Communal) and how these parts all play a role in our overall mental well-being.
I understand that an essential part of establishing the client-therapist relationship begins with fostering trust. I encourage vulnerability and offer a warm, empathetic, open, and non-judgmental environment with the hope of creating a space of safety and collaborative healing. You may have heard the saying, “Stretched but not Broken”. There will be times when I’ll stretch you to challenge yourself, thoughts, and behaviors, but I will never break you. By having a better understanding of self and your capacity for growth and healing, you will be able to face whatever comes your way from a new lens. Whether you are looking for a source of support, a listening ear, or want to hone in on new skills for your personal development, I am here to assist you on your journey of healing and self-discovery.
